Codecs Resource

The Codecs resource defines available encoders - either audio or video encoders - along with their specific properties and limitations. Presets reference one or more of these Codecs and thereby fully define a conversion target / output format.

Codecs are static and can only be read. The list of available codecs may gradually expand over time as we may add support for more codecs. Also, the codec properties/capabilities of existing codecs may extend by new features. We will do such extensions as part of our normal development or also upon specific user feedback (so just let us know what features you'd like to see in addition!).

There are currently two types of Codecs available:

  1. Audio: Specifying audio encoders.
  2. Video: Specifying video encoders.
